2011 Quality in Construction for the Rehabilitation of Runway 5-23 at Craig Airport
Lanham, MD – The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) announced today that Duval Asphalt Products Inc. of Jacksonville, Fla., has won a 2011 Quality in Construction Award for excellence in construction of asphalt pavement.
The Jacksonville asphalt inspection company received its award at a special ceremony during the association’s 57th Annual Meeting in Palm Desert, Calif.
The Quality in Construction Award recognizes asphalt pavements of excellence. “NAPA selects the recipients of its paving awards using a known set of standards that have been shown to give a good result,” commented Kim Snyder, 2011 Chairman of the NAPA Board of Directors. “This award demonstrates the high quality of work that Duval Asphalt Products Inc. is achieving.”
Duval Asphalt Products Inc. won the award for the rehabilitation of Runway 5-23 at Craig Airport. To ensure that the runway met the elevations of a new blast pad on the runway, the Jacksonville asphalt inspection company milled the entire runway, then placed a leveling course in several lifts. It placed a pavement fabric to help ensure smoother joints before placing a final 0.5 inch leveling course and a 1.5-inch surface course on the runway. Duval Asphalt Products used a material transfer vehicle during paving to help ensure the smoothness of the completed runway.
